Our website is meant to help you get a glimpse of an unusual, exciting school—and to help you imagine yourself as a student here.

There’s no such thing as a “typical” Buxton student: our students come from all corners of the United States and from around the globe. (In the recent past, our international students have hailed from Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Nepal, Taiwan, South Korea, and Spain.) Buxton students come from public schools, private schools, and home-schooling environments; from cities and farms, remote islands and the boroughs of New York—you name it.

And students come here for a wide variety of reasons: for the small, participatory classes; the rich arts offerings; the natural beauty of the Berkshires; the vibrant community life; the freedom to be themselves.

Take a moment to explore our Multimedia section, to see and hear student work. To get a sense of Williamstown, you can visit our Local Area section. But the best way to get to know Buxton is to come for a visit. There are several opportunities to visit Buxton over the course of the year. We hold Open Houses on Columbus Day and during our Fall and Spring Arts Weekends.

Best of all is coming to the school for a tour and an interview. Visiting and meeting the students and adults at the school face-to-face are essential to understanding life at Buxton. If you would like to schedule such a visit, please call the Admissions Office.

In the meantime, Buxton admissions staff and parents regularly attend secondary-school fairs and visit schools and educational consultants.
