Tuition

Tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year is $45,500 for a boarding student and $28,000 for a day student. This fee covers room and board and academic study, plus basic materials for courses, lab fees, field trips, tickets to approved cultural events, athletics (including ski pass), and programs and activities held on campus. Books, All-School Trip fees, laundry fees, some art supplies, weekly allowance, and travel are the family’s responsibility.

The international student fee is $3,500. This includes support services, including ESL and or TOEFL prep.

Financial Aid

Every year, Buxton renews its commitment to creating a student community that is vibrant, diverse, and excited to be here. We understand that not every student that is right for Buxton has the means to attend the school. That’s where financial aid comes in. We spend a significant percentage of our annual budget on tuition assistance, and we make our awards on the basis of both need and fit.

The financial-aid process begins in February with submission of a completed Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) to NAIS/School and Student Services at http://sss.nais.org/. In addition to the PFS, you will be required to upload your completed current year tax return and all schedules through this secure gateway. Parents must also submit to the Buxton business office a formal written request for financial aid that includes their specific circumstances and states how much they can afford to pay for tuition. Together, these documents provide a basis for review by the financial-aid committee. Financial aid decisions are made independently from admissions decisions.
