Students
Buxton School attracts an impressively wide variety of students. Our community is made up of young people from all over the country and the world. Their diversity of background, experience, and interest make Buxton a vibrant place to work, learn and live. And because our students have so many diverse passions, things are always happening here, from the student-founded and –run “Open Mic” night (where anyone can display any talent for the rest of the world to see), to the several impromptu “house bands,” to comedy improv, to political organizations, to the student-produced ’zine, to . . . well, you get the idea.
Although Buxton is primarily a boarding school, we do have a healthy handful of day students. They are fully incorporated into the life of the school, and have equal access to any and all of the activities, classes, sports, meals, and programs of the school. Our day students help connect us to Williamstown and Berkshire County, and they help the local community feel connected to us.
Whether you are a boarding or day student, you will find yourself at the center of the Buxton experience. Students are essential here: they set the tone, help the school function through their dorm and campus duties, take care of each other, and have multiple ways to make their voices heard to each other and to the adults in the community.
