Lights, Sound, Action: Buxton’s Student-Driven Theater Tech Class

At Buxton School, we believe that education is most powerful when students take the lead. Our new Theatre Tech class exemplifies this philosophy by giving students full control over the design and execution of all technical aspects of our theatre productions. From lighting and sound to set design and special effects, this class is 100% student-driven, allowing creativity to flourish in ways that traditional classroom settings can’t always offer.

A Hands-On, Immersive Learning Experience

Theatre Tech at Buxton isn’t about following instructions—it’s about innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork. Students work together to conceptualize and bring to life the visual and technical elements of a production. Recently, they created an incredible fire illusion using only lights and effects, showing just how imaginative and resourceful they can be when given the opportunity to lead.
