Life After Buxton

Yes, there is such a thing!

As much as we don’t want it to happen, eventually our students need to move on. Like with everything else at Buxton, we strive to make this process as positive and personalized as possible.

During junior year, students pick a dedicated college advisor to help them through the admissions process. All college advisors also work in tandem with each other to learn from and leverage the experience of the entire faculty in the college admissions process. In the late fall, each college advisor presents the entire faculty with the final lists of college choices for their advisees, and the faculty develops a plan for the best possible outcomes.

College Placement

Our students tend to continue their education at colleges and universities that mirror Buxton: small and academically rigorous institutions that value both the personal experience and the individualized curriculum.

And these colleges and universities know Buxton. Their admissions officers are well-versed in our rigorous academic standards, our artistic and creative mindsets, and the caliber of students we teach. We also stay in close contact with our alumni, who often serve as guides and mentors throughout the process on a whole and as advocates for the schools that they themselves chose.

Testimonials

  • "Buxton has given me the freedom to be the person I want to be, make the art I want to make, and learn the things I want to learn. At Buxton we learn not only in the classroom, but in the community. We learn how to be good to each other and how to support each other. Buxton has so much to offer students, both inside the classroom and outside of it."

  • “I felt instantly at home when I stepped on the campus. At Buxton, we are in school 24/7. We learn things in the classroom, but we really learn valuable things outside of the classroom. We learn how to work with others and respect each other’s spaces. Our education surrounds us and we learn new things everyday.”
