Overview
Not Your Typical School.
Our student body is the core of the Buxton experience. There is no way to categorize them, except to say they are all – individually and collectively – vibrant, independent and creative thinkers. They question the status quo. They live life on their own terms. They want the best, and they deserve the best. We are proud to know them and we are proud to empower them.
Buxton students are from the U.S. and abroad and may choose to either board at the school or attend it as a day student.

Day Students
Buxton day students are actively involved in every aspect of the school – from academics to events to trips – while staying closely connected with their families on a day-to-day basis.
Day students are expected to be on campus as much as possible to fully engage in and experience life at Buxton. The day starts at 8:30 a.m. and students can expect to stay until at least 3:30 p.m., when classes end. During the fall term, day students stay throughout afternoon sports practices and dinner.
During other terms, students may choose to return home between class and dinner but are required to come back to campus for mealtime (though can take one dinner a week ‘off’). Evening study hall is not required unless the student’s academics are suffering. Day students are welcome to stay on campus through our evening ‘snack’ time, from 9 – 10 each weeknight.
Day students are also required on campus for Saturday morning Work Program and Sunday evening dinner.

Open Houses
We would love the opportunity to welcome you to our campus during our Open Houses. Each event includes a campus tour, an interactive student and faculty Q&A, and the opportunity to really immerse yourself in the Buxton experience through displays of our students’ artistic and academic achievements.
Open Houses are held on Indigenous Peoples Day weekend (mid-October), MLK Day, and during our Fall and Spring Arts Weekends. Exact dates can be found on our Calendar of Events.
Please email admissions@buxtonschool.org to join us during our next Open House.
