Director Peter Smith ’74 on the Road
Pete Smith has covered a lot of miles lately, traveling around the country and the world to meet with current families, alumni, educational consultants, prospective families, and business leaders. Starting off in Washington, DC, Pete caught up with some parents of Buxton alumni, alumni, and former faculty during trip week. Over spring break, he traveled to China, with stops in Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Beijing. He was joined in China by his son (and alumni representative!) Sid ’14. While there, they visited with several current families, bringing a bit of Buxton to those far-away parents. Meetings with China-based educational consultants and prospective students were also on the schedule. Pete and Sid visited with alumnus Li Qi ’99, who is currently living in China, and met up with current teachers Peter and Lizzy Beck, who happened to be in Beijing during spring break! On his return trip, Peter stopped in Los Angeles and San Francisco for more visiting and hosting a small alumni gathering in each city; many thanks to Joe Brooke ’97 and Iso Rabins ’99 for their help in planning those. Pete is out and about, so don’t be surprised to hear from him if he’s coming through your area!
